Our first big road trip
So we are in Hot Springs visiting our friends the Greers. We left yesterday and anticipated about a 4 and 1/2ish hour drive. Well it turned out to be about 5 and 1/2 hours. Traveling with an infant is much different than I imagined it being. I thought; it'll be fun we will load Pax up and he'll fall asleep while we drive. But the exact opposite happened. He definately didn't go to sleep at first. He would cry for a while, play, cry, sleep, play, cry, scream, cry ect until we made pit stops for potty breaks and diaper changes. The minute we put him back in his car seat he would turn on the tears. He HATES his car seat. It was a hard trip for the little guy but we finally made it around 6:30pm. When we got here we ate dinner and then I gave Pax a bath (in their unusually large sink) which he hasn't done since he was a wee little guy. It was fun and he enjoyed it. Here are some pic's that Merrilee captured of his bath time.

Sippy Cup trial #2
So we tried the sippy cup again yesterday but this time we put a little milk in it. Pax has got the holding it part down and can lift it to his mouth but he doesn't quit understand that if he sucks on it he can get liquid out. He is still just chewing on it but at least there hasn't been any crying/screaming melt downs in a couple of days! Two steps forward in my opinion. Yeah for progress. Keep your fingers crossed that persistence will work

Adventures of the Bumbo
So our good friend Sarah gave us her bumbo to borrow while Pax is learning to sit up on his own. It has been great. Pax can sit on his own now but he still loves the bumbo. I think its because it helps him stay sitting up while grabbing for his toys! It also doubles as a high chair for now until Pax gets a little bigger. Poor guys bottom doesn't fill out his high chair just yet.
Sippy cut; trial 1
So I talked with our pediatrician and she said that since Pax won't take a bottle I should try a sippy cup. This morning I put a little water in it and let Pax try it out..... He liked it but only to chew on. I don't think he ever sucked on it. Trial number 2 tomorrow :)

Teething Stinks
So, Pax is teething which makes for some pretty miserable moments for the little guy. He has been running a low grade fever, can't sleep and is fussy the majority of the day. He hasn't cut a single tooth yet and this process started a month ago!! I wish that his little teeth would get the memo and come on in so that he doesn't have the pain. It is hard on Benny and I cause we have tried it all and sometimes it helps but sometimes it doesn't and you just have to love on him and hold him until he feels consoled. Teething is hard on everyone. If any of you educated mommy's have any ideas on how to sooth my little man other than teething rings, frozen carrots, orajell, teething tablets, frozen wash cloths or tylenol..... Please let me know.

Bottle Boot Camp
So Benny and I have been trying to get little Pac-Man to take a bottle. Needless to say he won't. We probably have the strongest willed 6 month old ever! Tuesday I nursed him at 6:30am like normal and then for his second feeding we tried the bottle. Of course, that was a no go so we kept trying all day. Benny has an incredible amount of patience and was the one that tried to feed him most of the day. It is so so so so so so hard for me to watch Pax get so upset when I know that I could fix it by nursing him. Every mother and nurse I've talked to says to be persistant so we were but that little guy just wasn't having it. Benny and I are leaving for our anniversary vacation in 4 months so Pax MUST learn how to take a bottle. Granted he will be 10 months old then and eating some solid foods but he still needs his milk. Being the mommy I am worried and stressed and every other emotion that comes along with listening to your son be so upset. Today is day 2 of trying to get him to take a bottle and I've already gave in and nursed him. Without Benny home encouraging me to stick with it I'm weak. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them. I have tried 4 different bottles with every size nipple. I am all out ideas! HELP
